Detailed Itinerary for 10 Day Uganda Primate Trekking & Tanzania Wildlife Safari Safari

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Depart in the morning after breakfast and drive southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is best known for its Mountain Gorillas, primate presence, and spectacular bird population. En route, you will have a short stop at the Equator for an educational talk as well as a photographic opportunity. The journey then continues to Mbarara, where there will be a stopover for lunch. After lunch, drive onwards; a drive that will take you through Uganda’s rolling green hills through the highlands, also known as the ‘Switzerland of Uganda’, before making the final journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorilla. Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before you set off at 8:30 am through the tracks to search for the humble giants. You will go with a packed lunch because it’s hard to determine how long it will take you to meet these great apes. However, the time ranges between 2-6 hours, depending on the movement of the giant primates. The activity is tedious, it entails walking along steep, hilly tracks. However, encountering these great relatives of man erases all the poor memories/ hardships you went through in trying to find them.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Kyambura Gorge or Kalinzu Forest for Chimpanzee trekking

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the popular Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a briefing and meeting the park ranger/guides before entering the forest to search for the bamboo-associated primates. Some consider this the next best thing after gorilla trekking. Once you find the golden monkeys, you will be allowed to spend one hour with these beautiful yet endemics. After trekking, your driver guide will transfer you to Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park or Kalinzu Forest for Chimpanzee trekking the next morning.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kyambura Gorge

Morning, early breakfast, and briefing at the Kyambura gorge, depart for the chimpanzee tracking forest walk. Expect to find families of chimpanzees and other primates such as red colobus monkeys, Blue monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, and grey-cheeked Mangabey chattering and swinging through the ancient forest trees.

Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe Airport

In the mid-morning after breakfast, it’s time to say farewell to the park, after we drive you back to Entebbe airport for your evening flight and say bye to Uganda and go for yet another exciting adventure in Tanzania.

Day 6: Arrival & Tarangire National Park

• Pick-up from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
• Drive to Tarangire National Park for a game drive.
• Explore the park’s diverse landscapes, famous for their large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater & Transfer to Serengeti

• Early morning departure to Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive.
• Descend into the crater, home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including the Big Five.
• Lunch within the crater before driving to Serengeti National Park.

Day 8: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti

• Full-day safari in Serengeti National Park, famous for its endless plains and abundant wildlife.
• Witness the Great Migration (seasonal) and spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

Day 9: Serengeti – Masai Boma – Karatu

• Early morning game drive in Serengeti.
• Depart towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a cultural visit to a Masai Boma to experience their traditional way of life.
• Transfer to Karatu for an overnight stay at Kankari Lodge.

Day 10: Lake Manyara National Park & Transfer to Zanzibar

• Early morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions and diverse birdlife.
• Transfer to Arusha Airport for an evening flight to Zanzibar.
