Detailed Itinerary for 14-Day Kenya wildlife safari with gorilla trekking

Day 1: Transfer to Samburu National Park

On arrival at the Airport, you are met by our driver guide who will drive you to the north of Kenya, This drive will take you through different landscapes and countryside, which will be a good introduction to your tour.  You will have a stopover for lunch and after drive to the lodge as you prepare for the evening game drive, where you may be able to spot different wildlife, including lions, buffalo, leopards, elephants, and many others. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge

Day 2: Explore Samburu National Park.

After early morning breakfast go for game drive with opportunity of sporting Somali Ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Grevy Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Samburu national park is one the best place to visit while in Kenya because of its breath-taking beauty, also you will be see deep red sunset silhouetting the doom palms along the river as you enjoy lions, cheetah, leopard and hyenas as they hunt animals coming to drink water along the river banks, other animals to see on this game drive includes wild dogs, elands, elephants, and Zebra’s among other wild animals in Samburu park. Dinner and overnight at Sentrim Samburu or Samburu Sopa Lodge.

Day 3: Transfer from Samburu Park to Naivasha

After breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to Lake Naivasha. Along the way, as you enjoy the view of the rift valley, you will be at the lodge in time for lunch, and after you will go for an evening boat cruise on Lake Naivasha. Dinner and overnight at a Midrange lodge (Burch Resort)

Day 4: Transfer from Naivasha to Masai Mara National Park

After a break in the morning, before you drive to Masai Mara, you will first have to go for a brief morning drive in Lake Naivasha, and after checking out, your driver guide will transfer you to Masai Mara. Masai Mara is famous for the Big Five among the animals to see.  It will be nice to have an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Siana Spring

Day 5: Exploration game drive in Masai Mara National Park

Your guide will take you on a full-day game drive, have a lunch stopover for about 35 minutes, after which you will continue with an afternoon game drive and later return to the lodge in time for dinner and overnight. Maasai Mara national park is well known its seasonal Wildebeest Migration, during Migration time over a million wildebeests accompanied by thousands of other herbivores, migrate from Serengeti National Park to the Masai Mara looking for greener pastures and it is during this season hundreds of lions, cheetahs, hyenas and leopards keep follow them and picking on the old and weaker ones. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight at Mara Sentrim OR Siana Spring Lodge (Midrange lodge).

Day 6: Experience of a hot air balloon flight

Today is another exciting day. go for the breathtaking hot air balloon safari experience in the Serengeti. This activity is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The float takes you in whichever direction the morning winds of the Serengeti plains take you. The pilot of the hot air balloon is the one who is in control of the altitude, so that you can get good photos and videos of the wildlife below. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sentrim OR Siana Spring Lodge (midrange)

Day 7: Transfer from Masai Mara to Kisumu

After breakfast, you will go for a brief morning game drive, and after you will return to the lodge to check out and drive to Kisumu. Have a stopover for lunch for about 30 minutes, after continuing with the drive to Kisumu, where you will arrive in the evening just in time for dinner and overnight at Impala Eco Lodge (midrange)

Day 8: Fly from Kenya to Udand- Entebbe Airport

After breakfast, you have a relaxed morning at the lodge, check out, and drive to the airport for your flight from Kisumu to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Boma Hotel, Entebbe.

Day 9: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Our guide will pick you up after breakfast, then start the drive from Entebbe\Kampala by road and head south-western Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. You have a stopover for some informative talk and a photographic opportunity, and some experiment at the Uganda Equator line, Kayabwe, and then continue to Mbarara for Lunch. And after driving through the rolling green hills of Banana and Tea plantations and head to Bwindi Forest.

Day 10: Mountain gorilla trekking day in Bwindi Forest

Early morning breakfast, you will report to Bwindi forest park headquarters with your packed lunch for registration and join other trackers in a briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your gorilla trekking. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your park ranger/guides to find the mountain gorillas, This activity can take you half a day to three-quarters of the day. Bwindi forest is a steeply forested landscape that is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails, allowing access to tourists.

Day 11: Golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga National Park

Morning, and proceed for golden monkey trekking in the bamboo zone of Mt Sabinyo. As you trek through the meeting, the golden monkeys, along the way, you will see other animals, fauna, and flora of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. When you finally meet them face-to-face, you will be amazed at how beautiful golden monkeys are, see them as they do their daily business; all this will be amazing and memorable for your trip.

Day 12: Transfer to Kibale Forest for Chimp trekking

Drive to Kibale forest via Kasese and Fort Portal, which is about a 5-hour drive from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The drive from Kisoro-Mgahinga to Kibale Forest is very impressive, with beautiful countryside landscapes and scenic views. You tour the Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru Caves, which are an ancient historical feature that locals believe to be the breasts of Nnyinamwiru – the daughter of Bukuku, a self-enthroned King of Bachwezi. Nyinamwiru had been denied a chance to breastfeed her son, Ndahura, as her father had been told that the offspring of Nyinamwiru would take over his throne. Though Bukuku worked tooth and nail to prevent the overthrow, it was destined to happen, and Ndahura became a famous Muchwezi ruler who is credited with expanding the Chwezi Empire to the areas of northern Tanzania, Rwanda, and east of DR Congo while using Uganda as the centre. It is rewarding to listen to such stories being told by the locals themselves. from here, you will drive 26km to Kibale National Park for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 13: Chimpanzee trekking & afternoon Bigodi wetland walk

After breakfast, embark on the chimpanzee trekking encounter in Kibale National Park. You gather at Kanyanchu tourism centre for a briefing at 8 am by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, after which you head to the prehistoric forest in search of your closest cousin.

Apart from Chimps, Kibale Forest Park also supports 12 other species of Primates, which include Black and white colobus and red-tailed monkey, and also 375 Species of birds

Chimp trekking is an exciting moment that will leave you with no other option but to be active with your cameras to make remarkable photos that will always take you back to the memories of your safari to Kenya and Uganda.

After lunch in the afternoon, go for a community walk in the Bigodi swamp. Bigodi swamp is an eco-tourism project developed and managed by the communities living around the Bigodi area bordering Kibale Forest, this swamp is also a home to 138 bird species.

Day 14: Transfer to Entebbe Airport for Departure

After morning breakfast, you will drive back to Entebbe airport or Kigali International Airport for your flight out late in the evening.
