Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced a new gorilla permit price which will be effective 1st July 2020, so for now Uganda gorilla permit still cost $600 per person at ill 1st July 2020, depending on the demand every after two years Uganda wildlife Authority increases permit price or reducers it
talking of 2020-2021 Uganda gorilla permit price increased, in May 2017 Rwanda increased its gorilla permit from $750 to $1500 per person which still makes Uganda permit of $700 is still cheaper compared Rwanda permit of $1500
Uganda also the only places you can go for a gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi forest and habituation permits cost only $1500 per person and you are allowed to spend four hours with a mountain gorilla family under the habituation process instead of spending one hour of normal trekking.
There is a limit on the gorilla permits issued per day which is one of the reasons why permits are expensive, only 8 permits are issued per day for each gorilla family and Uganda has only 20 habituated gorilla families which means only 160 permits are available daily while Rwanda has 10 permits which means only 80 available for sale daily.
Mountain gorillas are only found in three African countries, gorillas can only be seen in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park both parks are located in southwestern Uganda, Volcanoes National park in Rwanda, and Virunga national park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Take note that more than half of the total population of mountain gorillas in the world lives in the Bwindi forest.
Talking about habituation in Uganda is the only place in the world where you can go for chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale forest national park and in Budongo forest; both habituation and trekking can be done here in Kibale forest. Chimpanzee habituation permit has been also increased from $200 per person to $250 per person starting on 1st July 2020 while the normal trekking permit was also increased from $150 to $200 also effective 1st July 2020
