Detailed Itinerary for 8-Day Tanzania Wildlife Safari from Uganda

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania

On your arrival in Arusha, Tanzania, you will be warmly welcomed by our Tanzania tour guide; he briefs you and then drives you to the Tarangire National Park.

Day 2: Arusha → Tarangire National Park

Have breakfast, then drive to Tarangire National Park for game viewing, famous for elephants and giant baobab trees. You will arrive in time for lunch, and after lunch, you can choose to relax at the lodge or go on an optional guided walk or evening game drive, depending on how much time we have this evening.

Day 3: Full Exploration of Tarangire National Park

On this day, you will have enough time to explore Tarangire National Park, which is famous for big game viewing.

Day 4: Go for a full-day game drive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti.

Go for an early morning game viewing within the Ngorongoro conservation area. Remember to take a packed lunch with you because this game drive is a full-day activity. Expect to see lots of animals such as the black rhinoceros, African buffalo, hippopotamus, the blue wildebeest, Grant’s zebra, common eland, and Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, waterbuck, among others. Today’s game will end at the floor of the famous Ngorongoro Crater, which is amazing. Continue towards Serengeti.

Day 5: Explore Serengeti National Park

Today is another exciting day. After breakfast, go for a full-day game drive. Your driver guide will drive you to Ndutu via Olduvai Gorge. After going for the game drive through the vast Ndutu area in the western Ngorongoro, have a stopover for lunch at any of the camps. After exploring more on the game drive later in the afternoon, before driving back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight, you will have another stopover at some of the Masai Village at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park to Karatu

Go for another amazing game drive in Serengeti as you follow the great migration and continue the drive towards the Ngorongoro highlands and Karatu area. Please remember to go with a packed lunch because this is another full-day game drive, which gives you another opportunity to connect with the greatest concentration of large wild mammals in East Africa, and if not in the whole world, expect to see many different non-migratory animals, such as large prides of lions, leopards, tens of thousands of topi, cheetahs, solitary, Masai giraffes, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, and Coke’s hartebeests. Waterbuck, impalas, warthogs, and hippos are also abundant. The landscape in Serengeti National Park is characterized by open plains, kopjes, and rock formations that survive from the Precambrian period, as well as open woodlands. The day ends here, and he returns to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: game viewing at the Mara River

Today might be the highlight of Tanzania wildlife game viewing, having the opportunity to view the Mara River, where you will expect to watch the great migration of the wildebeests, gazelles, and zebras. This river gushes through the northern Serengeti from the Kenyan side, adjacent to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Seeing the frantic herds of the wildebeest migration crossing the Mara River is a very spectacular moment; it is not normal to see those great animals in great panic and confusion. You have another chance to have good views of the great Serengeti plains on a good day; it looks amazing.

Day 8: Drive to Arusha

Here, the trip is coming closer to the end. After a relaxed late morning breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you back to Arusha. In the afternoon, you can go shopping in Arusha town (which is optional) as you are waiting for your late evening flight back home via Kilimanjaro International Airport the next day.
