On 26 February 2026, Uganda Wildlife Authority introduced Chimpanzee Low-Season Discounted Uganda Gorilla permits. Tourists and other travelers interested in Gorilla and Chimpanzee tracking in April, May, and November would pay $600 for the Foreign Non-Resident permit and $500 for the Foreign Resident Permit. This was a reduction from the high-season price of $800 and $700 for the respective categories. The newly introduced discounted low-season rates for both gorilla permits and chimpanzee permits start working effectively on 1st April 2026.

The new discounted gorilla permits stand at $600 for the Nonresident while the resident permit stands at $500 and in addition, the Chimpanzee permits have been reduced by $50 putting the price in the low season months at $200. This initiative makes the chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park – the primate capital of the world affordable compared to when the permit is at $250 in the high season months. The two offers in the mentioned months are an opportunity that tourists and other travelers can use this advantage. The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park features a minimum of 600 mountain gorillas and is a remarkable UNESCO world heritage site which makes it an ideal site for gorilla trekking tours/safaris. Kibale features the largest group of the habituated Chimpanzees alongside other 13 species of primate making it an ideal destination for primatologists as well.
