discounted gorilla and chimpanzee permits in Uganda, in an effort to promote Uganda tourism industry during the Covid-19 pandemic, Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced an offer of a discount on gorilla, chimp permits, and discount on park entry fees to all Uganda savannah national parks during this coming festive season. The new discount will take effect starting from 1st December 2020 to 30th June 2021.
With the announcement of the discount, Uganda gorilla permit price has been discounted from $700 per person to $400 per person for the non-foreign residents, for the Foreign resident’s gorilla permits has been reduced from $700 to $300 per person while Ugandan citizens and East African community citizens gorilla permit has been discounted from 250,000 Uganda shillings to100,000 Uganda shillings per person.
For the bird watching loves, all Uganda birding activities has been discounted by 50% in all birding destination in Uganda. Chimpanzee permits prices have also been discounted, the new chimpanzee trekking permit price has been reduced from $200 to $150 per person for non-Foreign residents, and for the Foreign resident’s permit has been reduced from $100 to $100 per person, this offer is only valid for 7 months effective from 1st December 2020 to 30th June 2021.
This tourism promotional discount came after a very big negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global tourism sector including the Uganda tourism sector which earns about 1.5 billion US dollars every year, and mountain gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking is the top tourism activity in Africa.
Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is home to more than half of the mountain gorillas remaining population in the wild. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic tourism industry has been on halt as many countries went into lockdown, closing airports and borders, we as happy to report that Ugandan tourism is now fully open but the turn-up of tourist is still low, we think with the new promotional park entrance fees will boost and increase on the number of tourists during this festive season.
The announcement of the discount on gorilla and chimpanzee permits came also with a 50% discount on park entrances fees for all Uganda national parks which includes Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Semulik National park, Kidepo Valley National park, Lake Mburo National Park, and also to all Uganda wildlife reserves which Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, Katongo Wildlife Reserve, Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve and Toro Semuliki Wildlife Reserve among others.
