Updated on 21st July 2026: Uganda gorilla permit prices for 2026/2027 to 2028 increased
The Uganda gorilla permit price was increased from $700 to $800 per person starting from 1st July 2026 to 1st July 2028, so those who are planning a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, please plan accordingly. This announcement was made during a consultative meeting with all stakeholders including the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO) and many other Uganda tourism stakeholders in the country.

Effective from 1st July 2026 to 2028, the Uganda gorilla permit price for Foreign non-residents will increase from $700 to $800 for each permit, the new permit price for foreign residents has also been increased from $600 to $700 while Ugandans and East African gorilla permits will now increase from 250, 000 to 300,00 Uganda shillings per person.
standard gorilla permit allows you to spend one full hour with Uganda mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The new gorilla permit price increase does not affect the gorilla habituation experience in the Rushaga sector-Bwindi Forest, The habituation experience allows you to spend up to 4 hours with a gorilla family that is under the habituation process. habituation permit costs $1500 and it is not affected by the new gorilla permit prices for 2026-2028
The new Uganda gorilla permit prices for 2026/2027 to 2028?

Other Uganda national parks entrance fees for 2026/2027 to 2028?
Other Uganda Savannah National Park entrance fees have also not been affected by the new permit increase for 2026 to 2028, for example, entry fees for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and Lake Mburo National park-the fee is $45 per person for foreign non-residents and $35 for foreign residents while East Africans and Ugandans pay only 20,000 Uganda shillings. It is also important to NOTE that also chimpanzee trekking permit for Kibale Forest National Park has been increased from $250 to $300 per person for foreign non-residents and foreign residents from $150 to $200, these prices includes park entrance fees. Chimpanzee habituation permit has also been increased from $300 to $400.
2026-2028 park entrance fees for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, as we have indicated above both habituation and trekking permits prices that includes entry fees however, if you are going for bird watching or natural walking in either Mgahinga or in Bwindi forest the new entry fee for 2026 to 2028 is $80 per person.
New Uganda mountain hiking permit price/fees for 2026/2027 to 2028?
For those who love hiking-Rwenzori Mountain National Park, hiking in Mount Elgon National Park, Mount Muhabura, Mt Sabinyo, and Mt Gahinga, all these hiking fees increased from $80 to $100 per person/day for foreign residents, this fee includes all park entrance fees valid for 24 hours.
