The number of African Mountain Gorilla Population Exceeds 1000-Kisoro Tours. The recent mountain gorilla census in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Virunga National Park of DR-Congo, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park both parks found in Uganda, the gorilla census results has come with good news showing that the number of critically endangered mountain gorillas population is increasing in all three countries where mountain gorillas are found.
The 2018 mountain gorilla census contacted in Uganda, Rwanda and DR-Congo is indicating that since the last census conducted in 2010 mountain gorilla population number has grown from 880 gorilla individuals to 1,004 individuals for 2018 gorilla census, this is a very big milestone for the world most endangered species of mountain gorillas.
There are many reasons for conservationists in Uganda, Rwanda, and Cong to celebrate the population increase of mountain gorillas in Africa, for those who don’t wild mountain gorillas are critically endangered species which are only found in three countries in the whole world, there is steady 25 growth of mountain gorillas since last gorilla census of 2010 which is good news Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.
The 1,004 mountain gorilla individuals is a combined effort from Virunga National Park in Congo, Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park both parks located in Uganda, Bwindi Forest alone has 400 gorilla individuals while Virunga mountain range now has 604 burring the total number of the wild mountain gorilla in the whole world to 1,004.
Truly gorilla population results for 2018 is was not expected by many conservationists in the world because over the years mountain gorillas have been facing many threats from civil wars, farming activities, poaching, and many other environmental concerns more especially on the DR-Congo side so authorities from Uganda, Rwanda and Congo played a big role to protect this endangered species, well done to all conservationists for the success of gorilla population increase in Africa.
