Kwitonda gorilla family/group
Kwitonda is located on the lower slopes of Mount Muhabura, Kwitonda gorilla family has 24 gorilla members with 4 silverbacks making it one of the biggest Rwanda gorilla family, keeps moving on the lower slopes and upper slopes of mount Muhabura so some level of fitness is required when going to trek this family.
Hirwa gorilla family/group
Hirwa family has 16 gorilla members with one dominant silverback, this gorilla family is normal found around mount Sabyinyo foothills.

Susa family/group ( A)
for many years Sausa gorilla family was the biggest gorilla group Rwanda has very hard, Susa was the most popular Rwanda gorilla family with 42 members before the split into 2 gorilla families another group now called Susa (B). never the less Susa (A) is still one biggest gorilla family currently its has 33 members with 2 dominant silverbacks, this family is found lower forests of mount Karisimbi.

Susa (B) is part of the gorilla which split from the original Susa (A), currently, Susa (B) gorilla family has 16 members with 2 silverbacks, Susa (B) is also known as one gorilla family which is not easy to trek because it normal moves on upper slopes of mount Karisibi volcano

Amahoro gorilla is well known as one of the Rwanda peacefulness gorilla family, Amahoro family has 18 members with 2 silverbacks, Amahoro gorilla family is located in middle slopes of Mount Bisoke volcano.

Umubano family has 13 members with 2 silverbacks this family has few members but also one of the interesting gorilla groups Rwanda has.

Sabyinyo family has 13 members with one silverback, Sabyinyo gorilla family is located in the lower slopes of Mount Sabyinyo volcano and mount Gahinga volcano, Sabyiny gorilla group is well known as Rwanda’s nearest and easiest gorilla family to track which is recommended for old people and other people who are not fit enough.
Agashya gorilla family/group
Agashya has 27 group members with one silverback it lives in the middle of mount Sabyinyo volcano, also not so hard to track but some fitness level is needed.
