Suggested Packing List for Uganda Mountain Gorilla Trekking Safari

Suggested Packing List for Uganda Mountain Gorilla Trekking Safari, viewing safari of mountain gorillas in the wild comes with physically demanding and costs, in the whole world there is only 890 mountain gorillas left and  Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is home to more than half of the total numbers of gorillas in the world.

Mountain gorillas can only be found in three African Countries namely Uganda, Rwanda, and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for any to trek mountain gorillas in their natural habitat of the African Jungles we recommend that you get prepared in time, in this article we give tips on the packing list for easy planning when going for gorilla trekking adventure and wildlife safaris. Below is the recommended packing list for your gorilla trekking tour.

A well-Charged Camera with Extra Batteries

On your gorilla trekking tour, a good camera is a must item to have in your packing list, because it will be sad for you to see others taking good photos of gorillas, a mountain gorilla trekking is a lifetime experience so at the of this adventure you need  evidence that you trekked the most endangered species the mountain, during your trekking you also need extra battery just in case you run out when you’re still taking photos, whoever goes for gorilla trekking needs to capture every moment because every moment is memorable, so the camera is on top of our Suggested Packing List for Uganda Mountain Gorilla Trekking Safari so that you can show off how much you enjoyed the gorilla trekking safari adventure

A pair of binoculars

Uganda gorilla trekking is done in both Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga Gorilla Park, both parks are known to be the best birding destination so a pair of binoculars which will help you sport some forest bird species during your gorilla trekking.

Trekking Permit

For anyone to be permitted to see mountain gorilla must have what we call a gorilla trekking permit to be presented before going for briefing, also it should be noted that gorilla permit requires booking in advance because gorilla permits are sold on first come first serve so you don’t book early enough to get a permit on the date of you to choose.

Uganda Local currency

During your gorilla trekking holiday in Uganda, you will need some local currency to enable you to buy some of your personal things, your need currency to tip your porters, waiters, guides, and many other things like crafts to take back home, so local currency is among our Suggested Packing List for Uganda Mountain Gorilla Trekking Safari in both Uganda, Rwanda and in DR-Congo

Long-sleeved sweater/shirts

Gorilla trekking is done in the African tropical rainforests,   so the long-sleeved shirt helps in the morning and evening from the cold breeze coming from the thick tropical forest, and also it protects you from stinging insects during your trekking.

A Pair of a rain jacket

Bwindi is a rainforest meaning weather can change at any time and it can rain at any time while you are still in the forest trekking gorillas so a rain jacket necessary during your trekking.

Gardening gloves

During you’re your time in the African jungle looking for gorillas, you need gloves to help you when you grab the nearest plants and other species tree because some are not good for your body so garden gloves protect your hand.

 Long trousers and socks

During your gorilla trekking in the Bwindi forest, you will normally encounter thick scratchy brush reason why you need long trouser to safeguard your legs from such cases.

Hiking boots

Gorilla trekking involves hiking for few hours through wet, thick impenetrable forest and steep hills slopes, so proper walking boots that are waterproof is required for you to enjoy trekking through African rain forests

Insect repellent

We also recommend that you bring with you good insect repellants to safeguard you from the biting mosquitoes and many other insects

A Porter carry your backpacker during the gorilla trek

Taking a porter is optional but at Kisoro Tours Uganda we normally advise our clients to hire a porter for their gorilla trekking to make it earlier for you, mountain gorilla trekking sometimes can be strenuous so you will need someone push and pull during gorilla trekking, A porter costs only $15 to $30 and at the end of your trekking, you will find that it is worth it.

SunGlasses

Sometimes it can be hot so it’s nice to carry a pair of sunglasses to protect you from the strong sun, this is optional you may need them sometimes you don’t need it.
