Uganda park entry fees and tariffs

The detailed Uganda park entry fees and other Conservation Tariffs for July 2023 to June 2026, these new rates include all wildlife reserves and national park entry fees with also gorilla, chimpanzee, and golden monkey permit prices, nature guided walks, and all other Uganda park activities costs. Often after a period of time Uganda Wildlife Authority revises park entry fees and made few changes in conservation tariffs

Uganda Wildlife Authority charges all entry fees and conservation rates in American dollars for conservation fees for Foreign Non-Residents and Foreign Residents while nationals and East African citizens rates are in Uganda Shillings.

Each entrance permit or ticket is only valid for 24 hours from the time you make the payment at the entrance gate. There will be an extra fee after 24 hours for the extra time spent in the national park or wildlife reserve.

There is also a Children category, children aged 5 years and below don’t pay any park entrance fees, and aged 5 and above have to pay park entrance fees while the age limit for gorilla trekking is 15 years and above, and 12 years and above for chimpanzee tracking.

For both gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking when you buy a permit it includes park entrance fees but for other activities in all parks, you have to pay park entrance fees separate from the activities like guided nature walks, guided game viewing, mountain hiking safaris, and Bird watching among others.

Filming Fees and Tariffs in Uganda National Parks

Commercial Filming and photography in Uganda national parks are also allowed at a fee, Uganda Wildlife Authority has introduced new guidelines, tariffs, and rates for filming and photography in Uganda parks, you have to first pay 40% of the total amount of the activity you be filming or photographing in the park of your choice.

Detailed Park entrance fees for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park  

Things to NOTE about Uganda park entry fees and tariffs in Bwindi Forest for July 2023 to June 2026

• When purchasing both a gorilla trekking permit and Gorilla Habituation Experience permit for both Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga includes park entrance fees for the day of trekking and ranger/guide fees.
• Gorilla permits must be booked and purchased in advance between 6 months to a year in advance.
• When purchasing the golden monkey tracking permit for Mgahinga it does include park entrance fees for Mgahinga.
• Hiking permits for the Batwa trail experience for Mgahinga including park entrance fees.
• The short hike to Mgahinga viewing Platform in Mgahinga doesn’t include park entrance fees so remember to pass by the UWA office in Kisoro town you don’t need to book in advance you can pay on the day you wish to visit the park
• Volcano hiking permit for Mt Sabinyo, Mt Muhabura, and Mt Gahinga in Mgahinga doesn’t include porter’s fees.

NOTE: both Chimpanzee trekking and habituation permit fees in Kibale Forest include ranger/guide and park entrance on the day of the activity

Things to NOTE

• Park entry fees for cars and boats are charged per 24 hours

• Park entry fees for cars to Murchison Falls National Park will be charged $10 extra addition for foreign registered cars and 10,000 Uganda shillings for Ugandan registered cars

• UWA boat cruise in Murchison Falls, Queen Elisabeth, and Lake Mburo takes a maximum of between 40 to 50 people
• UWA boat cruise takes between 1 to 2 hours. UWA accommodation charges above are per person,
  exclude local tax/levy and require reservation before you check-in.

Few things to NOTE about Uganda park entry fees and tariffs for researchers and volunteers

The money you pay for application fees is non-refundable. Other things to note include the following;

• All local Ugandans Research Assistants don’t have to pay (it’s free).
• All international research assistants and Volunteers pay park entrance fees for the first 10 days at a 50% discount.
• International students and volunteers’ short courses research also get a 50% discount on paying park entrance fees
