Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Gorillas & Chimpanzee Trekking Safaris
Day 01: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide and you transfer to your Hotel.
Meal plan: Bed and Breakfast.
Drive time: 15 minutes.
Lodge: Boma Hotel Entebbe, African Gorilla Guesthouse Entebbe.
Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park through the small towns of Uganda. Make a stopover at the Equator line for photographs and some informative talks and experiments. Enjoy an en-route game drive as you drive to your lodge/hotel for check-in and lunch. After lunch, you will have a boat on the lake in search of hippos, crocodiles, and water birds among others.
Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Lodge: Rwakobo Rock lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
After breakfast, enjoy an en-route game drive through Lake Mburo National Park and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in South Western Uganda. This journey takes you through the green rolling hills of Uganda with banana and tea plantations and good scenic views. Lunch will be served en route and you will arrive in Bwindi in the evening.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Lodge: Broadbill Forest Camp or Bakiga lodge.
Drive time: 5-6 hours.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Day in Bwindi Forest.
Early morning, breakfast with your packed lunch, you will report to the Park headquarters for registration and join other trackers in a briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Gorilla Tracking at 7:45 am. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you half an hour to three-quarters of the day. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. It is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Lodge: Broadbill Forest camp or Bakiga Lodge
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
This morning you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, be prepared for some incredible scenery along the way. You will arrive in the Park in time for an afternoon boat cruise along the beautiful Kazinga channel. The boat cruise which takes you two hours is a great location for photography, bird watching, or game viewing with such diversity of life supported by the channel including hippos, water birds, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and many other wildlife that flop the channel for drinking water.
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Lodge: Bush Lodge.
Drive time: 3-4 hours.
Day 6: Morning Game drive and transfer to Kibale National Park.
After an early breakfast drive to the northern bank of Queen Elizabeth National Park (Kasenyi) area in search of the wild animals which include: Elephants, Buffalos, wild cats, Savanna birds, and different species of antelopes such as waterbucks Uganda kobs among others. After lunch, you will drive to Kibale Forest National Park arriving at your lodge in the evening.
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.
Lodge: Chimpanzee Forest Lodge.
Drive time: 2-3 hours.
Day 7: Chimp Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.
This morning after breakfast you will drive to the park headquarters to join other trackers for a briefing and after you will be taken for chimpanzee tracking, through Kibale Forest National Park. During this walk, you will have a chance of seeing many of the 13 primate species native to Kibale Forest National Park. After lunch, you will drive to Bigodi for a swamp walk. This wetland belongs to the community neighboring the park.
Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.
Lodge: Chimpanzee Forest Lodge.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala.
After early morning breakfast, you will drive back to Kampala Entebbe International Airport for your flight out late in the evening.
